Objective. To present the case of a woman with poorly controlled diabetes who experienced a rapid progression of rhinocerebral mucormycosis with cerebral involvement. Clinical Case. We report the case of a 36-year-old female patient with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosed two years ago, who had irregular insulin treatment. She presented to the emergency department with a consciousness disorder and subsequently developed a peri-orbital lesion. Conclusions. Mucormycosis should always be considered among the complications in patients with decompensated diabetes mellitus.
