Abstract

This policy brief argues that nuclear energy is a promising choice for developing countries such as Pakistan. At the global level, climatic threats alongside geopolitical crises have led to a renewed interest in nuclear energy. Currently, both advanced and developing countries are exploring options for self-reliance in energy. Primarily, to mitigate adverse effects on power infrastructure, disruption of supply chains, market distortions and inflation. It is suggested that Pakistan considers investing in new Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) for reducing energy import bill, shifting to clean energy, tapping Electric Vehicle markets and become resilient towards climatic shifts and geopolitical crises.
