Abstract

The aim of this study is to generate recommendations regarding the current status of the species Argentinian silverside (Odontesthes bonariensis) in Peru. With regard to its reproductive biology, the implementation is suggested of a gonadal maturity scale for the species, which would facilitate the proposal of fishing regulatory measures designed to ensure the rational use of this resource and prevent its overexploitation. To this end, a complete understanding is required of the reproductive cycle of the species, through the histological analysis of its gonads, in order to establish the spawning season or seasons, and to estimate its size at maturity.
