Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing problem worldwide, with projections of 10 ,milion deaths in 2050 directly related to this phenomenon. This problem is aggravated because the scarcity of new antimicrobial agents, with most of them belonged to established antibacterial agent families, and therefore against which resistance mechanisms already exist. The development or selection of antimicrobial resistance, while directly associated with their level of use, it is not an unidimensional problem. In this review, several of the most relevant causes underlying this problem are revisited
