Abstract

On January 15, 2022, an oil spill stained the central coast of Peru. Initial information indicated that the spill had occurred in Ventanilla (in the Constitutional Province of Callao) during the discharge operations at the La Pampilla Refinery. This editorial discusses what happened in this event and its environmental consequences.
