Abstract

The production of electricity from solar energy is one of the key alternatives for the supply of electricity to rural areas that do not have access to the national electricity system. In this context, this article presents a proposal for the implementation of an autonomous solar photovoltaic system (with storage batteries) in a community in the Lambayeque region. The proposed solar PV system is composed of sixteen (16) photovoltaic solar panels, fourteen (14) storage batteries and one (1) DC-AC inverter.  The project will avoid the release of 2,110.40 kg CO2eq/year of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into the environment, which would otherwise be produced by the combustion of diesel in an electrical generator. This article recommends that Regional Governments replicate the implementation of autonomous solar PV systems that would take advantage of the availability of solar resources in other areas of Peru.
