Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) use statement
The use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools is permitted solely to support improvements in the writing quality of the manuscript. Their use must be limited to enhancing grammar and writing style, and not for drawing scientific conclusions or making clinical recommendations. The application of such tools must be guided by human oversight, ensuring critical review and careful editing of the content. Since AI tools may generate content that is persuasive yet potentially inaccurate, incomplete, or biased, full responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the manuscript lies solely with the authors. These tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, nor should they be cited as such, as authorship entails responsibilities and roles that can only be fulfilled by humans.
A disclosure regarding the use of AI in manuscript preparation is mandatory. It must be included in both the cover letter and the manuscript, under the heading “Artificial Intelligence Use Statement”, placed before the References section. This declaration will be published as part of the final article. The statement must follow one of the formats below:
“During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Name of AI tool or service] for the purpose of [Specify purpose]. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed and carefully edited the content as needed and take full responsibility for the content of the publication” or “The authors declare that no artificial intelligence was used in any part of the manuscript preparation process”.
There is no need to declare the use of conventional tools used solely for spelling or grammar correction or for reference management.
