Revolution and State: Dilemmas and Strategies of Cuban Anarchism in the Pages of El Libertario (1959-1960)

This article investigates the discursive strategies employed by El Libertario, the official organ of the Asociación Libertaria de Cuba (ALC), between 1959 and 1960. The study aims to analyze how the Cuban anarchist movement articulated an autonomous revolutionary project within the context of the Cuban Revolution. Drawing on a qualitative approach, the research is grounded in the documentary analysis of the eleven available issues of the periodical published during this period, combining elements of critical discourse analysis, conceptual history, and the sociology of ideas. The findings reveal a sophisticated repertoire of doctrinal propaganda strategies, intertextual engagement with global anarchism, and graphic resources mobilized as instruments of political critique. The article concludes that El Libertario expresses a persistent tension between enthusiastic participation in the insurrectionary process and an early, forceful critique of the new government's authoritarian drift, thereby constituting itself as a dispositif of contested memory over the meanings of the Revolution.
