Oral health profile of patients diagnosed with myastenia gravis.

Objective: To determine the oral health profile of patients from the Association Myasthenia Gravis Peru, Lima diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. Materials and Methods: A total of 75 nonrandomized patients diagnosed with myasthenia gravis were included in the study. The prevalence
and average number of caries were evaluated according to the decayed/missing/filled teeth (DMFT) index, the simplified oral hygiene index (OHI), type of malocclusion and dental and facial symmetry. Results: The prevalence of dental caries was 100% , with an average of 17.26, and
42.7% of the patients presenting poor oral hygiene. Likewise, 38.7% and 24% of the patients were found to have class II and III malocclusion, respectively, and 74.7% presented facial asymmetry as the main characteristics of their oral health profile. Conclusions: Patients from the Association Myasthenia Gravis Peru - Lima diagnosed with myasthenia gravis present a high average of dental caries, with most presenting grade II and III malocclusion, facial asymmetry and a poor level of dental hygiene.
